Your Associate Job Description Sucks
Job descriptions across VC could use some help. While there are commonalities across firms regarding what an Associate does, it shouldn't manifest in a seemingly uninspired posting from firm-to-firm.
Job descriptions should be a way to inform and sell a candidate on the opportunity. Strong candidates value:
- Understanding the key experiences and qualities that candidates should have
- Thoughtful articulation of the key responsibilities to be assumed by the role
- A look into the culture and "style" of a firm
- Knowing how the firm might help them develop as an investor
- Insight into longer-term opportunities within the firm, if relevant
